On October 31, the Pamplona City Council hosted a landmark event that gathered over 100 experts, policymakers, and citizens to discuss innovative strategies for creating a sustainable energy future. The discussions highlighted the transformative potential of energy communities—local initiatives that empower citizens to produce, share, and manage energy sustainably.
At the conference the main oPEN Lab achievements in Pamplona after 3 years of the project were presented, including the renovation of a building in San Pedro neighborhood, the creation of an Energy Community and the opening of a one-stop-shop for energy and renovation. The conference is part of the Learn From the Living Lab activities
Key topics included the critical role of local governance in advancing energy efficiency, innovative approaches to renewable energy adoption, and collaborative strategies for accelerating the energy transition. A major focus was the deployment of Positive Energy Neighbourhoods, showcasing the power of community-driven solutions to decentralize and democratize energy systems while fostering resilience and inclusivity.
