Renovation information day took place in Tartu

Oct 6, 2025

On 6 September, a renovation information day took place in Tartu. Organised by the local oPEN Lab team, its goal was to discuss renovations, exchange experiences and introduce the conditions of the soon-opening renovation grant call of the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency. The event took place in the Annelinn district, in a local backyard, making it easily accessible to the residents of many nearby unrenovated apartment buildings.
During the information day, the Head of the Urban Design Department of Tartu, Kertu Vuks, introduced the current and upcoming urban and spatial developments of the district. Martin Kikas, an energy expert and technical consultant from Tartu Regional Energy Agency, spoke in detail about the conditions of the upcoming renovation grant and what to keep in mind when applying as a housing association. A panel discussion with the housing association leaders of already renovated apartment buildings followed – interesting topics such as “what has improved after the renovation?”, or “in hindsight, what would you do differently?”, were covered.
The project team hopes that the information day proved useful to the attendees and offered the necessary encouragement and know-how to start the planning the renovation of their apartment building as well.
