In the garden City of Waterschei, oPEN Lab is collaborating with 3 local contractors to install sustainable energy technologies in the test houses:
- -Solar panels & batterie systems – Intellisol
- -Ventilation systems – Juvah
- -Heat pumps – Peeters & Zonen
Appointed by VITO and supported by Stebo, these companies are doing more than just installing technology — they’re actively contributing to tailor-made solutions that prepare these 100-year-old homes to become part of a positive energy district. In 4 of the test homes, systems are already up and running. For the remaining houses, installations are planned and coming soon.
On top of that, the contractors also support residents in using these new systems correctly and efficiently, ensuring real impact and long-term comfort.
All data from these homes will be collected and analyzed to explore how 100-year-old houses can become part of a fossil-free energy future.
