On Thursday, July 2, 2024, Fichtner Group invited students and members of the 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (SCS) advisory board of the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences to a lively exchange on the topics of Smart City Solutions for the SCS Network Talk.
A panel discussion on the topic of importance of municipal strategies for achieving climate neutrality goals. Margarita Antoni presented the findings of the Fichtener Management Consulting’s FMC study on the positioning of Swiss cities with regard to the implementation of the smart city and sustainability mega trends. The study showed that administrations and energy suppliers demand innovation but are reluctant to take risks purely because of their culture.
The discussion was moderated by oPEN Lab colleague Vipul Sarnot (Steinbeis) along with Dr. Robert Thomann (CEO, Smart City Mannheim) and Prof. Roland Dieterle (Special Solutions).
It was an informative session with new insights into how municipalities and utility companies function in Switzerland. The observations made by Dr. Robert Thomann were of great help to contextualise this in the German context for City of Mannheim and MVV (utility company in Mannheim). The Smart City Mannheim is a success story on how cities and energy companies can work together to achieve climate and resilience goals.
Prof. Roland Dieterle made insightful comparisons to Singapore and Chinese cities.
oPEN Lab project was presented to the attendees of the SCS Network Talk and information Flyers of the project distributed.
