On International Women’s Day, the oPEN Lab project celebrates the many women whose expertise, creativity, and dedication are helping drive the transition toward Positive Energy Neighbourhoods across Europe. Across the project’s living labs and partner organisations, women contribute to research, citizen engagement, communication, and the development of innovative energy solutions that support more sustainable and resilient urban environments.
Through the Women+ of oPEN Lab initiative, the project highlights stories of women working at the intersection of technology, communities, and sustainability. Their work ranges from engaging citizens in energy transition activities and explaining complex renovation concepts to local residents, to developing communication materials and supporting research on innovative energy and building solutions.
Their contributions highlight that the transition to climate-neutral neighbourhoods is not only a technological challenge but also a social one. By combining technical expertise with community engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration, women across the oPEN Lab project help ensure that innovative solutions are accessible, inclusive, and relevant for the people who will ultimately benefit from them.
