Alonso Hernandez & Asociados Arquitectura (AHA) is a leading company specialising in sustainable architecture and urbanism, engineering, and R&D services for the construction sector. Established in Northern Spain (Pamplona) back in 1989, AH Asociados gradually expanded to major Spanish cities such as Bilbao, Barcelona, and Madrid. Currently, the AH Group has a major office in Qatar and conducts business in countries such as Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Poland and Slovenia.
The mission of the AH group is to provide expertise in architectural design, urban planning, on-site control, and project management services, focusing on energy-efficiency performance, optimisation of capital and operating costs and environmental impact as a differentiated business strategy. The R&D Department of AH was created back in 2005 to realise the potential of the latest scientific findings through the development of innovative construction products. The R&D department has been actively involved in various lines of research, mainly: energy efficiency, new materials, development of building systems and processes, ICTs applied to architecture and urbanism, and urban innovation and mobility.
Role in Project
AHA is leading the Living Lab in Pamplona in close collaboration with the Pamplona City Council. AHA is the lead partner of a Work Package dealing with decision support tools for design, construction, and operation within a PEN environment. AHA is also collaborating in other areas of oPEN Lab such as the implementation of industrialised construction, the optimisation of energy operation at a building and PEN levels. AHA will also be actively involved in the monitoring and evaluation of Pamplona’s Living Lab, as well as participate in the upscaling and replication of the oPEN Lab approach. Finally, AH will engage in several dissemination activities during the project to promote oPEN Lab actions and outcomes.
